Kent Wittenburg, is currently a Director at MERL, a computer science and engineering laboratory well-known for its work in multimedia, digital communications, data and sensor systems, and imaging. The laboratory has made a significant body of contributions to communications and video standards and produced an outstanding body of scientific publications. Technology from the part of MERL Kent has been responsible for is directed towards such applications as visual browsing for digital televisions and cell phones, voice interfaces for car infotainment systems, communications networking for PANs and broadband, and analytics for HVAC and energy systems. Starting in January 2010, Kent assumed responsibility for Intellectual Property strategy and management of the patent department.
