Material EncounterS with digital cultural Heritage

meSch, Material EncounterS with digital Cultural Heritage, has the goal of designing, developing and deploying tools for the creation of tangible interactive experiences that connect the physical dimension of museums and exhibitions with relevant digital cross-media information in novel ways. The UC3M team is made up of researchers from DEI and the Institute of Culture and Technology and they provide expertise on interaction design and cultural heritage in this EU project led by the University of Sheffield. Objectives:

One of the main outcomes of the participation of DEI group in this project will be the CoDICE (COdesigning DIgital Cultural Encounters) tool that is aimed at supporting the co-design of smart objects for enhanced encounters with cultural heritage. CoDICE adds persistence and traceability to the co-design activities and makes it possible to extend ideas discussion beyond collocated meetings. It also provides mechanisms to revisit design products and generate informed design rationale. The group has also run several co-design workhops with local partners involved in cultural heritage (http://mesch-project.eu/inventing-futures-for-cultural-heritage-at-medialab-prado-madrid/) and has developed a prototype to share stories on physical objects (http://mesch-project.eu/inventing-futures-for-cultural-heritage-at-medialab-prado-madrid/).
